same same but different… an artistic exploration of the ongoing war in Ukraine
Following the wall of remembrance of those who died for Ukraine, I would like to commemorate the civilian casualties of the current ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine with my new artistic work. same same but different... will be an installation made of true-to-scale Polaroid photo formats. Each picture is unique in its own right, as unique as the person it is intended to commemorate. I will use the techniques of marbling with ink on paper. ( more ... )

The work I intend to create in Krastal is an interactive installation that resembles a throne. The throne as an object has always been a symbol of power and strength. The throne I create, contrary to its usual function, changes its position in the vertical. It's difficult to stay in it, you have to balance and use strength to hold the position. The sculpture can turn around itself, not only around its inside. The viewers react to the superstructure laid out in Marx's philosophy. This is particularly evident in the fact that the needs of people on the fringes of society and various user groups are given priority. ( more ... )

Eva Funk and Céline Struger focuses on contemporary issues of sculpture, such as ephemerality and locality. Both artists grew up in Carinthia in a rural environment, which had a lasting influence on their later concept of sculpture and is expressed today in a common basic tenor in dealing with form and substance. In their artistic works, the artists allow anti-capitalist, mystical and partly feminist narratives to resonate. Accordion meets Electronic

PHASE 1 - Analyse + Studio
The sound dimensions of the accordion are carefully analyzed and recorded in the studio set up in Krastal. The versatile instrument contains a very large spectrum of frequencies which gives the possibility that not only one or more tones and chords are audible, but also noisy signals. Various techniques such as vibrato, tonglissando, clusters, bellowshake (balgtremolo) as well as various percussion effects will be used in the studio. The invitation to participate as artist in residence at Krastal Sculpture Symposium gives me the opportunity to work in a new environment for several weeks.
I would like to use this offer - according to the motto: Get out of the often lonely works in your own studio. Meeting fellow artists and people who are interested in ceramics, exchanging ideas with them, and being able to introduce my work to you will give you fresh impetus for new work. Since I work in groups of works and can usually produce only small-sized object, I have the opportunity to produce a larger work: designed for a room in the "bildhauerhouse" - a ceramic wall design with a free-standing object. I pick up my themes spontaneously from self-experienced and self-seen locally and process them directly. ( more ... )

Laying traces, finding and documenting them. The project planned for the residency of Claus Prokop in Krastal, July of 2018 deals with the topography of the quarry. The site becomes the place of discovery of the remains of a culture that never existed, the Krastal sculptor's house becomes the museum of that culture that never existed. The range of the exhibits covers the full spectrum, from botanical and zoological finds or minerals to articles of daily use, made from stone or metal, up to pieces of art that pretend to be antique. To achieve the desired results some finds have already been brought, others made during the expedition itself. Using the methodology of fake news the project questions the construction of history and homeland and the abuse of concepts like that. ( more ... )

About the presence and absence of artist and audience

The concept artist Hannes Egger provides the opportunity for the visitors to present and perform themselves within the frame of the work The Artist is Absent - Perform Yourself. The artist provides the framework for this. The stage is made up of three makeshift partition walls with curtains, a kind of dressing room, an almost intimate room with one and a half meters of length at each side. Brief instructions on index cards provide a possible framework for action. However, it is up to the visitor whether he remains a spectator, whether he follows the instructions or improvises an action according to his own ideas. The presence of Eggers himself is not required, only that of a deputy who introduces the interested parties to the game and accompanies the performative process.

Es ist die aalglatte Ästhetik der Konsumgüter, eine scheinbar unendliche Verfügbarkeit des ewig Gleichen… Und dabei doch auch das Moment des Imperfekten, das selbst millionenfach gefertigten Massenprodukten innewohnt. Der meist sehr geringe Materialwert der Dinge prägt einen vorsätzlichen Wegwerfcharakter.
